Elliotts new store

HI. I’m Amber Elliott, and I am thrilled to announce that Elliott’s Natural Foods new satellite store, Elliott’s Vitamins, is now open in Orangevale! This has been a passion project of mine ever since we had to close the Citrus Heights store. We are looking forward to serving the Citrus Heights/ Orangevale/ Fair Oaks area once again!

Elliott’s Natural Foods was started by my grandparents in Sacramento in 1952. They had just had their first baby and wanted to have better access to healthier food for their family. They would drive to the coast to pick up dairy, barrels of honey, and granola. After their neighbors began to buy into their bulk purchasing efforts, the Elliotts opened their first store. In those early days and for a while beyond, many people may recall my grandmother taking them by the hand to show them the store and giving them a large chewable vitamin C to enjoy during the tour.

Over the last 74 years, we have had three additional locations come and go. Two of them, the Elliott’s Fine Nutrition branches located in Folsom and Citrus Heights, were forced to close after the death of a cornerstone family member. Without him, we could not continue those stores.

The closures left such a void that even after three years, community members still expressed sadness at our absence and frustration with the other shopping options available in those areas. This feedback was encouraging, as we also felt the loss of connection to the community that had supported us for so many years. Being in business this long means that many connections are formed over the years – we currently see customers who were brought to an Elliott’s location when they were young by their grandmothers many years ago, and they bring their own grandchildren in now to see us.

Finally, we have found the perfect spot in Orangevale, right between Folsom and Citrus Heights! We’ve created a vitamin store filled with top sellers and customer-tried-and-true favorites, a bit smaller square footage than we’ve had in the past. Elliott’s Vitamins is stocked with our best vitamins, supplements, and herb brands. For the food selection, we will focus on ready-to-eat items as well as local honey and dairy delivered on Tuesdays. It has condition-specific skincare, toiletries, pet supplements, homeopathics, medicinal teas, and wellness items like massage tools.

The knowledge that we offer our customers is what sets us apart. The vitamin aisle staff take multiple trainings per month from our brands and from practitioners that work with those brands. We partner frequently with practitioners, either locally or remotely, from whom to learn or make available to customers. For instance, we’ve arranged to have the Ayurvedic practitioner from LunaLei Wellness available to meet with customers for free in-store every Friday at the Elliott’s Natural Foods location in Sacramento.

As people come to us for knowledgeable support, we find that teaching people about these products can be an empowering experience. Often, people have tried everything or found that working with Western medicine alone has not been enough, arriving at Elliott’s looking for answers or at least the next step. We do our best to provide clarity and quality information on our vitamins and supplements so that customers can feel confident in what they are purchasing and certain of their next move in self-care.

As people seek empowerment, we often find they are wanting to connect with practitioners or learn new modalities themselves. For that reason, we have built a classroom into the new location in order to offer nutrition seminars and classes such as self-hypnosis and maternity prep. Additional services such as chair massage, reiki, and aura readings are available. This reflects our belief that wellness is more than just what nutrition we consume; it can also be about personal growth and knowledge.

The next class at Elliott’s Vitamins in Orangevale on April 18th will be taught by Yvonne Koenig, a trained hypnotherapist. The goal of this class is to instill a sense of self-confidence and self-worth with new skills. Attendees will learn what aspects of themselves they may not fully accept and love and how to change that dynamic with self-hypnosis. Give us a call at 916-932-4094, join our newsletter, or follow us on Instagram @ElliottsVitamins to find out about upcoming classes and services.

Come visit us soon! Elliott’s Vitamins hours are Tuesday – Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 9346 Greenback Lane #9 in Orangevale. Save 10% by shopping during the first Thursday – Saturday of each month – our discount days – no membership required. We can’t wait to see you there!

Take care,

Amber

Ellen

Easter day was pretty exciting for us. We actually went out for the first time since before Christmas for fun. Ellen was good enough to be able to get into the car so we went out to the movies. We went and saw Hail Mary, an excellent movie we both enjoyed tremendously.

Healthy Food Costs

Be glad you live in California, because in many states healthy food is simply not affordable. Take North Dakota where buying healthy food will cost you 51% of your average monthly wage. There only 6% of folks eat fruits or veggies regularly.

Many nutrients designed to be derived from quality food and herbs are simply not available to us. Healthy foods are getting harder to access. Here is a good article discussing food supplements.

A recent study compared animal protein to plant proteins combined to have the same amino acid content as the animal protein. After a nine day workout program, muscle biopsies taken on everyone showed no difference in how much muscle they had gained with the workouts.
