Happy New Year!
2010 is upon us. A new chance to start fresh with our lives. I hope your holidays were excellent; mine were. I still have one party left to attend. In another week my family is gathering to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday – Congratulations mom. Where do the years go?
Most likely you will be reading this New Years weekend. This is a potent time to set your new goals for the coming year. What do you want in your life? More specifically what feelings do you want to fill your life with? Instead of trying to decide what things you want to create in your life, focus on what feelings you want to experience. Staying focused on the feelings you want gives your creative efforts flexibility and adaptability, two key ingredients to successful manifestation.
Many people have asked me just what is it I do? From one day to the next it seems as though I will have completely different focuses. This very newsletter is an example of the diversity in the directions of my thought. Yet behind all the diversity is a common thread, a single focus and goal…alignment with natural law. My constant effort as a doctor is to align my patients with natural law. My actions and words are to adjust patient’s bones, bodies, energies, lifestyles, emotions, attitudes, hormones, diets, and nervous systems back into alignment with natural law. Alignment creates the harmony we call health.
When you come in to see me it is because something feels out of alignment in your life. My job is to figure out what the misalignment is and then either re-align it or give you the tools and guidance to re-align it yourself. It would be nice if re-alignment could be simplified down to a single spinal adjustment, or a special magical herb, or one attitude or exercise, but you are complex. So while the goal is simple, you are not. But on this the beginning of the new year it is valuable to re-center on the goal.
We are here to learn how to manifest ourselves, our dreams, our potentials, and learn how to do this in harmony with all the rest of life. Self-unfoldment and harmony with life can often seem to be opposite goals. Complete dedication to only one of these does in fact create opposition to the other half. This is why we need constant alignment with natural law. Natural law is the harmonious balance of these two opposites. Whether you choose to see this balance as God’s law, or as the natural outcome of the trial and error process of natural evolution makes no difference…the law is the law. We know when we have violated the law by the imbalances in our bodies and our lives that result. This is why re-alignment is necessary, to reestablish homeostasis – balance.
Life is a trial and error process. We pursue happiness, meaning, and fulfillment in our lives the best we are able by making guesses as to what will bring us what we want, then guessing what actions will take us there. None of us “knows” the “right” answer to how to live life because we are all designed to be different – that means we all have different goals and different life paths. But one thing that is universal is that if we get unbalanced, out of alignment, we will crash and burn. Maintaining balance is tricky and depends on constant feedback from our bodies, from life, and from others. We can not make this journey alone. We are invisible to ourselves. We depend upon the reflections of ourselves from others and from our body to be able to assess where we are and how well we are doing. My job is to interpret what your body and your life is telling you to help you re-align with the natural order in life.
So if you were wondering just what is it I do, well, I help align people with life, with natural law. I work with bones, and muscles, and nerves, and meridians, and hormones, and neurotransmitters, and nutrition, and digestion, and exercise, and lifestyle, and energetic balance, and life lessons, all to create balance and harmony. I help people adjust to life, to come into greater alignment with what is. For me this is health…the ability to successfully adapt and adjust to life.
I believe in alignment. I believe to be happy we need alignment in all areas of our lives. Just cleaning up our diet but not our relationships will not leave us happy. Developing our spiritual health but ignoring our body will not leave us happy. Focusing completely on our financial health and leaving no time for leisure and play is just a ticket to an early grave. Balance is the key. Alignment with the laws of life is the key to happiness, health, and well being. My practice is simply the reflection of my own life process. What I bring to the office are the skills I am learning in my own life. Every day is a new journey of alignment. I am about alignment. I am about improving the quality of each life through alignment with natural law.
Join me on the conscious journey of unfoldment and harmony. Even though feedback from life is not always comfortable, embrace it and adjust your life course back into alignment with Natural Law. The ultimate outcome is happiness, meaning, and fulfillment…a good goal for the New Year.
